I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for quite some time now.
Back in 2003 I even printed huge A4-size letters B L O G and stuck them on the wall in my living room as a reminder to make one the next morning, in order to keep track of thoughts and ideas that usually got forgotten because I was too busy or to lazy to develop them further. However, I quickly learned to overlook the writing on the wall, and forgot about the blog altogether. It took me further 6 years to finally dedicate as little as 30 minutes of my time to start this blog… So, why blog and why now?
1. Because it took me as much as 6 years of waiting and only 30 minutes of actually doing it.
This one happens to me all the time and I really got frustrated about leaving many thoughts, ideas and projects unfinished. For years I was taking for granted that I was just too busy, or lazy, or unfocused, or all of the above, but lately I decided really sit down and see what I can do to about it.
I came to realize that my lack of focus and persistence on certain projects was actually only the manifestation of some deeper issues and inhibitions that I am keeping deep inside. So as I started to dig trough my personality in a search for answers (how pretentious and cliche this sounds!) I needed the tool to keep track of this journey.
2. To be able to clearly communicate thoughts to myself.
Now most people write blogs to communicate with other people, but I primarily write this crap so I could verbalize thoughts and explain them better to myself.
3. Because I prefer typing to hand writing, and keep losing my notes anyway.
It’s easier to keep all the data in one place, and keeping them in paper form was just too demanding for me, being a naturally sloppy person. Plus you can’t click and open a hyperlink written on a piece of paper.
4. Because I am a terrible writer and it’s about time to improve on it.
5. Because someone might care enough to check it. Altough I primarily made this blog to myself, you are very welcomed (including myself) to engage and comment on the stuff I write. In fact, I expect, as I get more and more into subjects I want to explore, that I will be making this blog more and more extrovert.
If the idea of maintaining this blog holds up for more than a few days, that is…
