HK Land, a major development group in Hong Kong, approached Screampoint back in 2002 to develop a user friendly property management system with focus on the burning issue of keeping track of maintenance records for the seawater cooling system that had grown into a mountain of misplaced paper documents.
In only five weeks, our 2-person team managed to build a working prototype in which users could browse the virtual Hong Kong Central, and access any data by interacting with buildings and pipes in 3D. It was an instant success, and put into good use by the client.
More importantly, this project marked the beginning of the future 5D City development, where we had a chance for the first time to put our idea and vision of digital cities into action.
